About the artist
Daniel Krysta (b. 26 February 1976 in Cieszyn) is a Polish contemporary painter who creates paintings combining hyperrealism and matter painting. He graduated from the Faculty of Painting of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (1999–2004). He received his diploma in painting in 2004 in the studio of Prof. Stanisław Kortyka. His paintings are in public collections (including the National Museum in Gdańsk and the Bielska BWA Gallery) and in private collections in Poland and abroad. He has taken part in several dozen painting exhibitions and is the author of several solo exhibitions. He has received many awards and distinctions. He lives and works in Wrocław. "My source of inspiration is reflection on the relationship between human beings and the world around them, in which technology increasingly determines our being and fundamentally shapes our perception of the world and of ourselves. Yet the fundamental pillar of my painting is painterly matter, with which I create paintings that are concrete and legible, and at the same time elude unambiguous interpretation. I am convinced that at the meeting point of these values something more than matter alone has a chance to emerge, and that aesthetic experiences have a chance to evolve into a higher category, where spiritual values come to the fore."
