Małgorzata Lazarek

Małgorzata Lazarek is a graduate of the Faculty of Graphic Arts in Katowice of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. The Academy awarded her a medal for the whole of her work. She won the main prize at the Biennale of Student Drawing. She worked as a teacher at the Secondary School of Fine Arts and as a graphic editor at SUPER EXPRESS, and she drew for many newspapers and magazines (Twój Styl, Gość Niedzielny, Super Express, Newsweek, Gazeta Wyborcza). She has received many awards in competitions in Poland and abroad – she is a twelve-time laureate of the INTERNATIONAL SATIRICAL DRAWING EXHIBITION “SATYRYKON” in Legnica, and of many other satirical competitions. She received second prize for her illustrations to the poems of Zbigniew Herbert, and her oil painting was “Painting of the Year 2008”. A year later another painting received a distinction in the ZPAP competition about Katowice. In 2013 she received the Grand Prix of Satyrykon and the “More Beautiful Poland” Award – she was the only woman to be honoured. In 2018 she received an award for a painting devoted to the contemporary landscape. Thanks to her activity on social media, she is the author of the album cover for Sylvie Paquette, a Canadian vocalist, and her paintings have been presented at the University of Tbilisi and in Medellín, Colombia. She practises painting, drawing and illustration. She exhibits her works in galleries in Poland and abroad.
