Born in Kraków in 1958. Studied in the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. Graduated in 1983 in the studio of Prof. Juliusz Joniak. Holder of scholarships from the Ministry of Culture and Art and from the Mayor of Kraków. Author of 50 solo exhibitions, including in Kraków, Gdańsk, Warsaw, Katowice, Tarnów, Zielona Góra, Zakopane and Olsztyn, as well as in Aachen, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, Vienna and Thorn (the Netherlands). He has taken part in several dozen group exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including in France, Italy, England, Sweden, Denmark, Germany, Japan and the USA. Winner of several prizes and distinctions in national painting competitions. His works are in numerous collections of institutions and private individuals in Poland and abroad. There are so many reasons for practising painting and so many reasons for its reception that everyone will find here their own region or sphere that suits them. I am inspired by nature, which is still a source of ideas and formal solutions for me, and which never ceases to surprise me. Landscapes, still lifes, architecture, figures, animals – everything that surrounds us is worthy of being immortalised. Only in portraits do I escape into the world of literary or historical archetypes, to fantasise lightly on canvas and to give vent to my interests outside painting. In painting, it matters more to me to show the intriguing phenomenon of matter and to embrace it in an intuitive sense of order than to discover the mysterious structure of the atoms of which this matter is composed.
