Stanisław Wysocki

Stanisław Wysocki (b. 1949 in Ełk), also known as Stan Wys, is a sculptor associated with Wrocław. After completing his studies in physical education, he chose to pursue an artistic education in Poznań and Berlin. He studied under H. Lonas and gained foundry experience in the Hermann Noack workshop in Berlin. A recurring theme of his sculptures is the female figure, whose form he simplifies and renders unreal. His works can be found in the public space of Wrocław; they include "The Flood Victim" ("Powodzianka") by the University Bridge and "The Swimmer" ("Pływaczka") by the historic swimming pools on Teatralna Street.
