Description
About the work
The horizontal composition depicts a calm surface of water in which the low sun is reflected. The upper part is filled with bands of salmon orange and raspberry pink, lightened on the right to a lemon, almost fluorescent yellow. The lower half turns into a cool, dove grey. On the right, thin, dark reed stalks rise densely; on the left, single stakes protrude, and in the middle a small boat floats. The paint lies in layers, rubbed, scratched and finely speckled. The painting is built on a juxtaposition of warmth and coolness, as the glowing light gradually fades into the matt grey of the lower part. The whole evokes a moment of silence by a lake at dusk. The large format and the calm lower part suit a spacious living room, where the warm colours will enliven a light wall.
