Alicja Słaboń - Urbaniak

Alicja Słaboń-Urbaniak Born in Kraków. She currently lives and works in Modlnica, a village near Kraków. In 1988 she graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków. She received a distinction and a medal for her diploma work. Since completing her studies she has worked continuously as an artist. Through easel painting she has developed her own recognisable style, based on simplification and the flattening of space. It sometimes recalls naive painting or primitive art, and is always filled with a richness of colour and texture. Her ease with the craft and her masterly sense of colour, however, leave no doubt that we are dealing with a professional artist. Since her first exhibition in 1990, the artist has shown her paintings in many solo and group exhibitions in Poland and abroad. She works regularly with galleries in Denmark, Germany, Scotland, Japan and, of course, Poland. Her works are in museum and private collections in the USA, Japan, Germany, France and Scandinavia, in the Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Berlin, and wherever the artist's numerous admirers live.
