Edyta Purzycka

Edyta Purzycka is a graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. She received her diploma in 1996 in artistic graphic art under the supervision of Professor Halina Pawlikowska, with an annex in painting and photography. In 1995–96 she was a scholarship holder of the Minister of Culture and Art. Since 1997 she has been a member of ZPAP (the Association of Polish Artists and Designers). In her works she uses several intaglio printing techniques (etching, aquatint, soft-ground etching, ink spatter). This allows her to experiment with texture and to achieve painterly effects. She designed the graphic layout of the student monthly "Maska", and subsequently of the art quarterly "Format". She collaborated with the literary and art magazine "Rita Baum" and with the Wydawnictwo Szkolne PWN (PWN School Publishing). In January 2000 she designed the scenography for the performance "Obrazek wigilijny" (A Christmas Eve Scene). The production was created as part of the activities of the Wrocław Centre for Children's Creativity. In 2001 the TIKKUN publishing house published a volume of poetry by the German poet Peter Gehrisch, with graphics by Edyta Purzycka.
