Description
Against a light blue sky, a white, folded garment grows out of a woman's face, flows downward and turns into billows of pinkish clouds. Half of the face is covered by a red cloth, streaming like a banner, with thin, branching threads resembling veins. The gaze of the blue eyes is calm and focused. On the left rises a slender pillar topped with an umbrella; on the right, on the platform of a tall pillar, stands a tiny figure in a coat, holding a cane. The paint is applied smoothly, the tonal transitions are soft, and delicate rainbow reflections in the white give the surface a pearly sheen. A single strong patch of red cuts through the cool range of blue, white and powdery pink, leading the eye to the face. The whole gives the impression of a quiet dream. This vertical, medium-sized painting will bring calm and a touch of mystery to a bedroom or study.
